Service is the willingness for an individual to place the needs of the work of the Faith before personal preferences. It is often seen as a magnet that draws divine confirmations upon those that take part in the acts of service.
With the continuous unfolding of the vital work of the Cause of Bahá’u’lláh, the Bahá’ís around the world are called upon to take part in this momentous opportunity to serve.
“Work done in the spirit of service is the highest form of worship.” ʻAbdu’l-Bahá
The Youth Year on Service program is run by the National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahai’s of Uganda in order to offer friends, particularly youth, the bounty to serve at the House of Worship and the National Baha’i Center.
Overview
During their period of service, Youth are able to gain experience from the various areas of service available as well as appreciation of the role and significance of the House of Worship and the institutions within its vicinity. This period of service also offers Youth an opportunity to reflect on the essence of service.
Therefore the National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’ís of Uganda is offering an opportunity to Bahá’ís from all walks of life and backgrounds to arise and render service that will help in the propagation and continuation of the activities of the Faith.
The reality of service at the National office and the Bahá’í House of worship in Uganda calls us to reflect on the importance and value of service.
“… There is nothing that brings success in the Faith like service. Service is the magnet which draws the divine confirmations. Thus, when a person is active, they are blessed by the Holy Spirit. When they are inactive, the Holy Spirit cannot find a repository in their being, and thus they are deprived of its healing and quickening rays.”
– on behalf of the Guardian, quoted from Living the Life
The Guardian further guided us on how we should perceive service and the attitude we must have towards the act of service and how service will be followed by an Assistance of Hosts of Divine Concourse;…
” An individual must center his whole heart and mind on service to the Cause, in accordance with the high standards set by Bahá’u’lláh. When this is done, the hosts of the Supreme Concourse will come to the assistance of the individual, and every difficulty and trial will gradually be overcome.”
– on behalf of the Guardian, quoted from a letter October 6, 1954
As the vital work of the Faith continues to unfold, it is important the we think of how best we can strive to serve the Faith and Cause of Bahá’u’lláh. It is essential that, as we fill in the form for service, we do so with utmost sincerity and we share the skills, experiences and qualifications in the appropriate fields when asked.
